What is Black Coral Club?
Black Coral Club is a column about the founders building for the Good Life - businesses where living longer and living well are the same project, and where longevity and sustainability stop being trade-offs and start being the point. The name comes from black coral, one of Earth’s oldest living organisms: it grows slowly, thrives communally, and builds reefs on the deep-sea floor that shelter whole ecosystems and outlast almost everything around them. That patient, interconnected, built-to-last instinct is exactly what this column looks for in a company - and in a founder.
It grew out of “All About Agetech”, but a single demographic label was always too small for what is actually happening. The lens is wider now: agetech and mobility, consumer health and longevity, the handover of family businesses between generations, and the planet itself - peatland, seaweed, forests, and the slow, unglamorous work of restoration. The throughline is never the category. It is the person who decided that a longer, healthier life and a liveable world are worth building a company around. Read a few of the stories below and the pattern starts to show itself.
